Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes, AUGUST 1, 2016

 

On Monday August 1, 2016 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Nancy Johnson,  Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.

Also present were Flavia Berg, Lowell Berg, John Brown, Annette Brown, Frank Rauschnot, Vicki Jensen, Roger Wutschke, Colin Johnson and Steve Anderson.

Chairman Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.

The minutes of the July 5, 2016 meeting were read by Jim Zahn.  Rich Cap moved to accept the minutes and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Marlene Pohl gave the Treasurers report. Income for the month was $28,578.16 and expenses were $59,433.21.  Current checking balance is $161,249.93 with three C.D.’s at the State Bank for $89,767.96, three C.D.’s at 1st United for $118,418.64. Giving us a total balance of $369,436.53.  Nancy Johnson moved to accept the Treasurers report and Rich Cap seconded the motion. The motion carried.

 

The  Bills were reviewed for payment. Jeff LaCanne moved we pay the bills. Rich Cap seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Old Business:

Rich Cap advised that the blacktop repair projects were in LaCanne Paving’s schedule and will be done later in the year.

Steve Anderson requested that the board discuss an over lay of Chappuis Trail and decided in the next few weeks.

John Brown asked if any decision was made on moving a culvert to eliminate his problem with standing water from his drainage tile on Fairbanks Avenue. He was advised a culvert won’t solve the problem as the water has no place to go.

Frank Raushnot was concerned about pot hole repair and brush removal along Elmore Trail.

The board was advised that the stop sign on 160th Street is gone and needs to be replaced.

Roger Wutschke asked if the township cared if he sprayed the stumps in his ditch with chemical. He was advised it was ok with the township if he did. He will buy the product and spray.

Marlene Pohl advised the board that the City of Faribault Fire Department wants to replace their tanker by 2018. The city expects the rural fire association made up of 3 ½ townships to pay for the tanker.

Vicki Jensen reviewed the last legislative session and issues with the board.

There was some concern that there were too many keys for the town hall out and things were missing. Jeff LaCanne moved to rekey the town hall and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

 

Nancy Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting and Rich Cap seconded the motion and it carried.
