Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes July 18, 2022

Jeff LaCanne called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Rich Cap, Colin Johnson, Flavia Berg and James Zahn.

Also present were Lowell Berg, Barb Crabtree, Mary Michels, Patrick Ochocki, Susan and Ted Tuma, John Hortop, Lynn and Bruce Williams, Matt Bissen,

David Johnson, Dean Bauer, Steve Anderson, Dave Sammon, Brian and Jane Hake, Jeff Moore, Cheri Coutermash, Steve Masulla, Roy Ackerman, John McDonough and John M. McDonough.

June minutes were read by Jim Zahn. Colin Johnson moved to approve the minutes. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed

Flavia Berg read the Treasurer’s report for June. Colin Johnson moved to accept the report and Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

The bills for the month were reviewed. Colin Johnson moved to approve the bills for payment. Rich Cap seconded the Motion and it passed.

Issues from the Floor:

John McDonough was concerned about some low spots on French Lake Trail. Colin Johnson is to get prices on patching.

There is concern that a resident has created an unapproved access onto Wells Lake Way.Colen Johnson Will have RAW Construction put Jersey barriers along the edge of the right of way in front of this property.

New Business:

Bids for paving of  Chappuis Trail were opened. The bids received were as follows:

Crane Creek Asphalt                                  $330392.75

RAW Construction                                     $313,500.00

Timm’s Trucking                                         $260,083.10

Heselton                                                       $247,498.75

 

Because the lowest bid was close to $900.00/ parcel, the board asked Ted Tuma to poll the members of the Subordinates Service District to see if they wanted to proceed.

John McDonough requested a driveway permit so he could build a house on a 5 acre plot on his property. The board reviewed the request and granted the permit.

Jeff LaCanne moved to recess the meeting until 9:00 A.M. on July 27, 2022 to review the Chappuis Trail SSD input. Colin Johnson seconded the motion and it passed.

The meeting was recessed.

 

On July 27,2022 at9:00A.M.,  Jeff LaCanne called the meeting back to order. Ted Tuma advised the board that the majority of the residents were in favor of moving forward with the project. Colin Johnson moved to accept the Heselton bid. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

Jeff LaCanne moved to adjourn the meeting and Colin Johnson seconded the motion and it passed.
