Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes December 14, 2020

Jeff LaCanne called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Rich Cap, Colin Johnson, Brandon Miller and James Zahn.

Also present were: Roger Stoick, Rosa Stoick, Brad Lechtenberg, Charlie Lechtenberg and Andy Croke.

November minutes were read by Jim Zahn. Rich Cap moved to approve the minutes. Colin Johnson seconded the motion and it passed

Flavia Berg read the Treasurer’s report for November 2020. Colin Johnson moved to accept the report, Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

The bills for the month were reviewed. Rich Cap moved to approve the bills for payment.  Colin Johnson seconded the Motion and it passed.

Issues from the Floor:

Old Business:

The City of Faribault right of way permit was discussed. They want to do some test drilling before spring. It was decided to allow the test drilling.

Because of past issues with right of way permits Colin Johnson moved we change the Road Policy to include a $200.00 fee for permits. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

 

New Business:

A driveway permit request from Roger Stoick was reviewed. Colin Johnson moved we table the request for a month to allow Roger Stoick to review possible issues with the Wells Lake SSD. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

Colin Johnson made a motion to pass resolution 2020-5 designating the townships polling place for 2021 and Resolution 2020-6 designating the county handle absentee voting for 2021. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

March 2021 township elections were reviewed. For 2021 the terms for Colin Johnson’s supervisor position and Flavia Bergs Treasurers position are up. Filing for those positions is open from Dec. 29, 2020 thru January 12, 2021.

The State of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has been doing some work on Gun Powder Road for access to a parking lot they are planning for a public hunting area. The board is concerned with what they are doing and Rich Cap will talk with them.

Jeff LaCanne moved to adjourn the meeting. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.
