Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes December 12, 2022

Jeff LaCanne called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Rich Cap, Colin Johnson, Flavia Berg and James Zahn.

Also present were Roger Stoick, Steve Stoick, Jesse Thomas, Vicky Teich, Michele Ernste and Lee Ann Lechtenberg.

November minutes were read by Jim Zahn. Colin Johnson moved to approve the minutes. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed

Flavia Berg read the Treasurer’s report for November. Colin Johnson moved to accept the report and Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

The bills for the month were reviewed. Colin Johnson moved to approve the bills for payment. Rich Cap seconded the Motion and it passed.

Issues from the Floor: None

Old Business:

Bonds were issued with the State Bank  to fund the unpaid portion of the Chappuis trail project.

New Business:

A driveway request was discussed. Mr. Stoick was present as were members of the Wells Lake Way and Court subordinate service district. Colin Johnson moved we table the request to the next meeting to give time to review with our attorney. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

March 2023 township elections were discussed.

Jeff LaCanne is the supervisor whose term is up and Flavia Berg’s term as treasurer is also up. The period for filing for office is from January 3, 2023 thru January 17, 2023.

Colin Johnson moved to pass resolution 2022- designating Rice County property Taxes and Elections handle absentee ballots for the township election. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

Colin Johnson has a concern with his parcel #1008150002. He is replatting the parcel in 3 lots. The County is requiring a road on the plat. The township requires a 66 foot right of way be platted. Rich Cap moved to allow a cart way to be built on the right of way until the township deems necessary that it be upgraded to a road. Then the owners will be required to bring it up to township standards at the land owner’s expense. Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion and it passed.
