Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes December 7, 2015

On Monday December 7, 2015 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Nancy Johnson, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.

Also present were Roy Winjum, Larry Churchill,  Colin Johnson and John Purdie.

Chairman Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance and the asked if anyone was recording the meeting and received no response.

The minutes of the November 2, 2015 meeting, November 16, 2015 special meeting and the November 27, 2015 special meeting  were read by Jim Zahn.  Nancy Johnson moved to accept the minutes and Rich Cap seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Marlene Pohl gave the Treasurers report. The current balance in our checking account is $117,996.93.  Jeff LaCanne moved to accept the Treasurers report and Rich Cap seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The November bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

Building permits for October were reviewed.

Old Business:

A copy of the revised easement proposal was reviewed. It was decided to have our township attorney Greg Thibodeau review the proposal and advise us. Nancy Johnson will handle this project.

Larry Churchill presented a copy of the sign the Roberds Lake Club wants to place on Township property. After discussion it was decided to check out the county sign ordinance before approving.

Marlene Pohl reported on the negotiations with Faribault on fire protection. The city has received a check for 2016 and the fees moving forward aren’t yet determined. The city wants to go with a flat fee not tied to calls. They have also suggested that the townships split the fee based on population or property value of the townships. Either of these methods is a disadvantage for Wells Township. It was suggested we set up a meeting with the townships involved before the next  meeting with the city.

Jeff LaCanne reported on new tables and chairs for the town hall. New light weight 8’ tables are available for $70.00 each and he is still checking prices on chairs.

New Business:

Roy Winjum is interested in what needs to be done to turn over the road in his development to the township. The issue was discussed and the township wants to wait until spring to take over the road. The township will check into what need to be done to turn over the road and will advise Roy.

Nancy Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting and Rich Cap seconded the motion and it carried.

Respectfully Submitted
