Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes September 8, 2015

 

On Monday September 8, 2015 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Members present were Jeff La Canne, Nancy Johnson, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.

Also present were Lowell Berg, Flavia Berg, Roy Winjum, Misty Westergren, Marc Westergren, Dave Westergren, Charlotte Becker, Irv Becker, Richard Jones, Wendy Jones, Rick Isaccson, Ron Velzke, Greg Carel, Jay Staska, Denise Staska, Roger Witscke, Dianne Dienst, Jeff Gillen, Tom Paasch, Steve Anderson and Randy Kubes.

Chairman Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance and the asked if anyone was recording the meeting and received no response.

The minutes of the August 3, 2015 meeting were read by Jim Zahn Rich Cap moved to accept the minutes and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Marlene Pohl gave the Treasurers report. The current Checking Account balance is $120,086.04. Jeff LaCanne moved to accept the Treasurers report and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The August bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

The Winjum Development Agreement was reviewed, approved and signed.

Ron Velzke presented several quotes for repair and overlay of different parts of Elmore Trail. Ron was advised that he needed backing of 75% of the members of the subordinate service district to get the board to move forward with the project. It was suggested that he set up a meeting for the subordinate service district to review the project and get the support he needed. It was also suggested that he proceed in a manner similar to Wells Lake Way and Court Subordinate Service District.

Setting a public hearing date for the possible extinguishing the interest in the platted road: Woodland Drive was discussed. Rich Cap moved that we hold the hearing on September 29,2015. Nancy Johnson seconded the motion and it carried.

Keith Glanzer presented the township with a bill for gravel for Elmore Trail. After discussion Nancy Johnson moved that the township pay $500.00 towards the gravel if they take down the private road sign. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it carried.

Erv Becker asked that the gate on 160th street be left unlocked so his renters could get their machinery to his property with out having to wait for someone to unlock the gate. After some discussion the Berg’s weren’t opposed to leaving the gate unlocked. It was decided to leave the gate unlocked with the lock attached to the chain so the gate looks locked.

Steve Anderson asked the board what their intention was for repairs to Chappuis Trail. Steve was informed Chappuis Trail was on the back burner but would be reevaluated in the spring when the supervisors reviewed road conditions.

Building permits for July and August were reviewed.

Nancy Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting and Rich Cap seconded the motion and it carried.
