On Monday January 6, 2014 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

No residents of the Township attended the meeting.

The minutes of the December 2, 2013 meeting were read by James Zahn. Nancy Johnson moved to accept the minutes and the motion was seconded by Rich Cap. The motion carried.

The Treasures report was read by Marlene Pohl. Rich Cap moved to accept the Treasurers report and the motion was seconded by Nancy Johnson. The motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

The Wells Lake Court ditch issue was reviewed. Rich Cap moved to table this issue until the April meeting due to weather conditions. The motion was seconded by Nancy Johnson. The motion carried.

Working on shared roads with the City of Faribault is currently waiting on follow up by Travis Block. He wanted to review with City administration before we meet.

The Tomas Furlong West Ridge Preliminary Plat was discussed and the Furlongs have postponed this project until February.

The new County Burning permit was reviewed. All permits are now calendar year and the county will issue a number each time a permit holder wants to burn.
NEW BUSINESS:

The Township received a summons to conciliation court. Donald Jorgenson of 17681, 177th Street is suing for maintenance costs he has paid for 177th Street. Court appearance is scheduled for January 24, 2014. After discussion the Township stance is this road is a private road and not a Township road so the Township isn’t responsible for maintenance costs.

The closing of 160th street after Lee Thies suspended the Moto Kazie project was reviewed. Because Darrel Jensen would need an easement if the road is abandoned, the decision was to keep the road as a minimum maintenance road.

The abandoning of Becker Avenue off of 165th St. West was discussed. It was determined that the road was basically a field road and served no purpose to the Township. A motion was made by Rich Cap and seconded by Nancy Johnson to abandon the road. The motion carried.

Nancy Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Rich Cap and the motion carried.
