Wells Township Board June 3, 2013 Minutes

On Monday, June 3, 2013, the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Board members present:   Nancy Johnson, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and James Zahn Deputy Clerk

Also present were: Darrel Jensen, Lowell Berg, Flavia Berg, Dave Bates, Mary Ann Herda, Francis Herda, Tom Brady, Jon Hanson, Don & Anna Cook, Ann & Paul Stegmeier, Jon Peterson and Chris Lawson.

Acting Chairman Nancy Johnson opened the meeting at 7:01 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the May, 2013 meeting were read by James Zahn. A motion to accept the minutes was made   by ,Nancy Johnson seconded by Rich Cap  . Motion carried

The Treasurer’s report was given by Marlene Pohl.

Current checking account balance $50888.59

A Motion to approve was made  by Nancy Johnson ,  second by Rich Cap Motion carried

Dave Bates asked for good quality class 5 to be added to  Elgin Court to get the road back to good condition. He feels the material the township is using is of an inferior quality.

Old Business:

Vacating 160th Street West between CSAH 46 and 35W.

Darrel Jensen doesn’t have an easement yet and asked the township to not close the road. Due to late arrival of information from the County and attorneys, the township tabled for another month. Motion by Nancy Johnson, second by Rich Capp. Motion carried.

 

The Roberds Lake sewer group  application for a utility permit  for the public sewer system was reviewed   with Jon Peterson.

Rich Cap moved to approve the permit contingent on the review of Township attorney, walk through of the roads and handling of concerns of Chairman Jeff LaCanne. Second by Nancy Johnson Resolution carried.

Concerns:

Kaspericks Acres concern for location of the pipe. Map of the road given to Jon Peterson to copy.

  1. How does system work with the loss of power? Won’t work without power
  2. Are there any issues with a high water table and installation of grinder pumps? No
  3. How will they handle the disconnecting of people from an operating community septic system?

Plan is to cap.

Evaluation of Roberds Lake Trail current road condition by Bolton Menk. Bolton Menk would like to do a walk through of the roads including video and pictures of conditions prior to work starting.

Jim Zahn reported on the possibility of a Township website. The board would like further information.

The County isn’t interested in sealcoating township roads. Marlene Pohl has contacted Fahrner Asphalt Sealers for a quote.

A report on a blow out of culvert on 190th Street below Malecas hill was reported by Marlene Pohl.

Greater Mn. GAS Company permit for Elmore Way was approved.

All bills were approved and paid.
