Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes July 13, 2020

Jeff LaCanne called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Rich Cap, Colin Johnson, Flavia Berg and James Zahn.

Also present were Lowell Berg, Cynthia Schmidt, Paul Schmidt, Tim Madigan, Ron Velzke, William LaPort, Ken Kern, Mary Kern, Mike Hopwood, Jerry and Diane Barret, Ken Brazil, Kevin Brazil and Bill Arendt .

June  minutes were read by Jim Zahn. Colin Johnson moved to approve the minutes. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

Flavia Berg  read the Treasurer’s report for June  2020. Colin Johnson moved to accept the report as printed, Rich Cap  seconded the motion and it passed.

The bills for the month were reviewed. Colin Johnson moved to approve the bills for payment. Rich Cap seconded  the Motion and it passed.

Issues from the Floor:

Mike Hopwood was concerned about water standing in the ditch oh his property along Roberds Lake Trail.  After discussion the board will review on site.

Ken Brazil was concerned the board missed Delano Path and Dumot Avenue on the road tour and they both need gravel. Colin Johnson will follow up on those roads.

Old Business:

The emergency siren has been relocated to the top of the hill and is working. The project went well.

 

New Business:

With the sale of the hospital the current hospital board asked Wells Township to pass a resolution to dissolve the district. Rich Cap moved to pass the resolution and Colin Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Century Link has asked the township to remove a stump in the ditch by their utility box. Jeff LaCanne will remove the stump.

Progress on the paving of Elmore Trail and ElmoreAve. was reviewed.  The project including shouldering and ditch repair should be complete by the next meeting.

Jim Zahn brought up a concern with the current voting booths. They are to close together and don’t allow for proper social distancing guidelines required by the State of Minnesota. Colin Johnson moved that we purchase 5 voting booths to meet the requirement. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

The condition of Canby Ave. south was discussed. Colin Johnson will see if we need to reshape that part of the road.

Jeff LaCanne moved to adjourn the meeting. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.
