Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes May 4,2015

On Monday May4, 2015 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.
Members present were Jeff LaCanne, Nancy Johnson, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.
Also prersent were Colin Johnson, Lowell Berg, Flavia Berg, John Purdie, Andy Croke, Brad Lechtenberg and Ron Phillips.
Chairman Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance and the asked if anyone was recording the meeting and recieved no response.
The minutes of the April meeting were read by Jim Zahn. He was advised to correct the name Ron Kuhinka to read Dale Kuhinka. Rich Cap moved to accept the corrected minutes and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried
Marlene Pohl gave the Treasurers report. The current balance is $167,477.19. Jeff LaCanne moved to accept the Treasurers report and Rich Cap seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Colin Johnson advised that County Environmental wants Bolten and Menk to inspect the road being built in Roy Winjum’s project. The Board discussed the issue and felt we didn’t need an engineering firm to review. Jeff LaCanne moved that we inform Rice County that we don’t want an engineering firm involved and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried and Nancy Johnson will review with Rice County Environmental Services.
The group from the Wells Lake Subordinate Service District asked about quotes for the repairs to their Road. Jim Zahn provided the quotes from LaCanne Paving. Wells Lake Court- $12,500.00 and Wells Lake Way- $7,025.00. The costs were discussed and Chairman Jeff LaCanne requested that Jim Zahn get quotes from M& W Blacktopping for the next meeting. The residents requested that the Township pay a portion of the cost.
Other projects were then discussed and we have recieved quotes for French Lake Trail$3975.00 and Chappuis Trail $8,395.00. Jim Zahn was requested to get quotes from M&W for these projects also.
Marlene Pohl reported that she was working on dust control. The gravel needed based on the road meeting will be applied first and then the roads will be bladed. Dust Control should be applied late May or early June.
Jeff LaCanne reported that the fire hydrant on lake Mazaska needs repair. It was decided to contact Shieldsville Township to see if they were interested in sharing the cost. Rich Cap will check with Shieldsville.
Residents from Roberds Lake Trail and Dassel Ave. have asked about seal coating. Jim Zahn is to get a quote from Reyonlds Blacktopping.
The board was advised there will be a public meeting on zoning requirements for Solar Energy production on May 7, 2015.
John Purdie reported on the airport board of adjustment meeting on April 9, 2015. IFP has requested to build to a height of 28′ in the safety zone. This won’t exceed the height of their warehouse and shouldn’t be a problem.
The gate on 160th street was discussed and it was decided to move it 60′ from County Road 46 for safety.
Jeff LaCanne moved to adjourn the meeting and Rich Cap seconded the motion carried.
