WELLS TOWNSHIP

October 6, 2014

7:00 p.m.

Wells Town Hall

 

 

On Monday October 6, the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

 

Board members present were: Jeff LaCanne, Nancy Johnson, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.

Also present were: Lowell Berg, Flava Berg, Lloyd Thompson, Kevin Teich, Brad Lechtenberg, Ron Phillips and Shelby Phillips.

 

Chairman Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.

He then asked if anyone was recording the meeting and received no response.

 

The September 2, 2014 minutes were read by Jim Zahn. Nancy Johnson moved to accept the minutes and Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The Treasurers report was given by Marlene Pohl. Nancy Johnson moved to accept the treasurer’s report and Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The bills for the month were reviewed and approved.

 

Ron Phillips representing Wells Lake Subordinate Service District expressed concern for the method of assessing property owners for street improvements. He provided the board with a spread sheet showing how several surrounding cities assess costs and he asked the board to consider using the same method that the City of Faribault uses. He was advised that the board was in the process of developing a Road Policy and would take his request under advisement.

 

Jim Zahn reported on research on Snow and Ice Control Policy and a Road Policy. Several Townships have policies on their web sites and we have copies of some of the better policies. Jim was requested to get the information in a format for a meeting.

 

Building permits for August and September were reviewed.

Nancy Johnson reported on the Board of Adjustment meeting on Oct. 2. La Canne Marine applied for a variance for the addition they are proposing.

Two Utility Permits for Road Right of Way were requested by Century Link were reviewed and approved.

Nancy Johnson moved to adjourn and Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion. The motion carried.
