Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes December 11, 2023

Jeff LaCanne called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Rich Cap, Brandon Miller, Kevin Loken and James Zahn.

Also present were Gary Grunhovd .

November minutes were read by James Zahn. Rich Cap moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Kevin Loken, the motion passed.

Brandon Miller read the Treasurer’s report for November. Rich Cap moved to accept the report and Kevin Loken seconded the motion and it passed.

Bills for the month were reviewed. Kevin Loken moved to approve the bills for payment. Jeff LaCanne   seconded the Motion and it passed.

Issues from the Floor:

Some electrical and plumbing issues still need to be resolved to complete the Town Hall update.

Sign Inventory will hopefully be completed after the 1st of the year.

New Business:

Wells Township received $99.00 from the State to assist with voting administration.  The money was given to Rice County Taxes and Elections to help pay for voting equipment.

2014 Township elections were discussed. Kevin Loken’s 3 year supervisor term and Jim Zahn’s 2 year Clerk position are up. The filing period is from January 2 to January 16, 2023 at 5:00 P.M.

Election will be held March 12, 2024 following the annual meeting. Hours are from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The 3 election judges will be Rich Cap, Don Langer and Mary Ellen Velzke.

The purchase of a Fire Truck for the City of Faribault was discussed. The rural fire association that Wells Township belongs to approved the truck purchase. Jeff LaCanne moved Wells Township pay the City of Faribault $38,315.25 with funds from the ARRAPA funds to cover the Township’s portion of the expense. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.

The Appeals Court ruling for the Roger Stoick Driveway issue is still pending.

 

 

Kevin Locken moved to adjourn the meeting. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.
