Wells Township Board Meeting Minutes October 9, 2023
Jeff LaCanne called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Rich Cap, Flavia Berg, Kevin Loken and James Zahn.
Also present were Gary Grunhovd, Randy Timm, Josh Oakland and Jon Winjum.
September minutes were read by James Zahn. Kevin Loken moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Rich Cap, the motion passed.
Flavia Berg read the Treasurer’s report for September. Kevin Loken moved to accept the report and Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.
Bills for the month were reviewed. Jeff LaCanne moved to approve the bills for payment. Rich Cap seconded the Motion and it passed.
Issues from the Floor:
Josh Oakland brought up the concern of cracks in the bitmouns on Elmore Trail. Rich Cap moved we use a contractor to repair the cracks using the maintenance fund set up for that road.
New Business:
Tree issues on 177th Street, French Lake Trail and Canby Ave. were discussed. It was decided to get Strobel Tree Service help with the necessary removal.
Jon Winjum advised that he was no longer blading or removing snow from township roads. He had requested Timm’s Trucking to do some blading for the township. Replacement of RAW Construction was discussed. Randy Timm was present and answered questions about Timm’s Trucking.
Rich Cap moved to replace RAW Construuction with Timm’s Trucking. Kevin Locken seconded the motion and it passed.
Permit requests for 19225 Belview Trail and 17502 Elmore Ave. were approved.
Resolution 2023-3 designating the town hall as the polling place for 2024 was passed with all supervisors voting for the resolution.
Resolution 2023-4 designating Rice County Property Tax and Elections as the Townships absentee ballot board was passed with all supervisors voting for the resolution.
Jeff LaCanne moved to adjourn the meeting. Rich Cap seconded the motion and it passed.
