On Monday August 5, 2013 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Board members present : Jeff LaCanne , Nancy Johnson, Marlene Pohl and James Zahn

Also present were Colin Johnson, Lowell Berg, Flavia Berg, Susan Tuma, Ted Tuma, Greg Pavek, Leonard Petricka, and Jason Petricka

Chairman Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting at 7:00P.M. With the pledge of allegiance

The minutes of the July meeting were read by James Zahn. Nancy Johnson moved to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by Jeff LaCanne. Motion carried

Marlene Pohl gave the Treasurers report and there is a current balance in the checkbook of $146,115.00.  Nancy Johnson moved to accept the treasurer’s report. Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion. The Motion carried.

New BUSINESS

Don Langer reported on the  Airport runway extension committee.  They want to extend the  runway from 4200 ft. to 4900 ft. 2 proposals have been submitted to FAA and this is a 5 to 7 year approval process. They need a Minimum of 500 take off and landings by aircraft needing that much runway to get approval.

Ted Tuma provided an update on the Roberds Lake Sewer Dist. Project.

Construction has started  and they will be to Roberds Lake Boulevard by the end of this week. Due to increased interest they are working on grant money to cover the increase in participation to keep costs down. A $2.144 Million grant was approved and the best estimate for the work was$3.9 to $4.0 Million. Ted recommended that the township purchase a modified hookup to use if a building was built later.

Jeff LaCanne met with Bolton Mink and reviewed the road condition and approved permit on July 24, 2013.

Jeff LaCanne reported that 175th St., Elmore Ave. hill, and Chappuis Court were  reshoulderd.

Jeff LaCanne reported on culvert replacements at Fairbanks Ave. and  Chappuis Trail. On Chappuis Trail  Two 24” culverts were installed and the bad fill was dug out and replaced.

190th street west was to wet to repair and we are waiting it to dry out.

Jim Zahn reported on the Aug. 1 Rice County Planning Commission meeting. The CUP’s for Motokazie were finally approved and project was moved forward to County Commissioners.

It was  proposed that we fill gravel spots on Garfield Trail with Ground Blacktop

Jerry Sather 6672 French Lake Trail water problem due to a culvert plugging during heavy rains. It was determined that the culvert he was concerned with is on his property and not a Township culvert.  507-330-0839

Jason Petricka  has an issue with a culvert across French lake trail. The culvert is 15 inch and is undersized and deteriorating. Don Langer looked at the culvert and believes a 24 inch culvert is the answer.

Roberds Lake Trail residents want Chip seal on their road and feel it is maintenance. Residents are getting bids and reporting back to the Township.
