WELLS TOWNSHIP

July 1, 2013

7:00 p.m.

Wells Town Hall

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 P.M. by Chairman Jeff LaCanne

 

Board members present: Jeff LaCanne, Nancy Johnson, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn

 

Others present: Flavia Berg, Lowell Berg, Elmer Ruehling, Dan Skluzacek, Jon Hansen, Lee Thies, Kymn Anderson and Cristela Boarini (Fblt Daily News)

 

The minutes of the June 3, 2013 meeting were read by Jim Zahn. A motion was made to approve by Nancy Johnson and seconded by Rich Cap. The motion carried.

 

The treasurer’s report was given by Marlene Pohl. Current checkbook balance is $116,910.99.

Check book balance $116,910.99  Motion to approve by Nancy Johnson and second by Rich Cap. The motion carried

 

Jim Zahn presented a proposal for double chip coating of several asphalt roads in the township. Fahrner Asphalt Sealers LLC from Eau Claire Wisconsin proposed $3.50/SY to double chip seal township roads. Total cost for the 8 roads was $246,532. Individual road costs were included. After review no action was taken.

 

 

Dan skluzacek a resident of Garfield Trail discussed the current condition of the road and the desire fix it. He stated that the Township had offered to pay the $11,000 cost to convert it back to a gravel road and he asked  if the Board would consider applying that money to reconstruction if the residents wanted to rebuild the bituminous roadwith a proper base.     Discussion followed with a suggestion that the road be tiled down the center to eliminate the water problems. No Action was taken by the board.

 

Marlene Pohl reported that cutting of roadside ditches would begin on July 3.

 

Based on a discussion with Dave Bates about the quality of class 5 at the June board meeting the board decided to do a trial on Elgin court of class 5 material from a different source. The Highway department recommended Timm’s Trucking as a source for good quality class 5.

Highway Dept. recomended Timm’s because they believe it is better quality

 

  1. Loads of class 5 on Bellvue Trail- Marlene Pohl light coat of class 5 down the middle for better dust control

 

  1. Dust coating vendor and price quote- Marlene Pohl vendor wants to use Calcium Cloride

mag clor 100 ft will run $48.00. cal clor 100ft will run $46.00

 

  1. Vacating of 160th Street .3 mile East of County Road 46 and West of 35W.

It was moved to vacate 160th street west.  Vacating will take place after the time of closing between Geigers and Lee Theis and an easement is granted from Motokazie to the Jensens for access to the Jensen property as shown on The Carlson Mc Cain survey dated 4/25/2013. Motion by Nancy Johnson, Second by Rich Capp, Motion carried.

 

  1. Roberds Lake Sewer project.

No one was present from Bolton & Menk to review permit issues. A call was placed and a message was left for John Peterson to contact Jeff LaCanne for follow up on the project.

 

  1. Mature C.D. at 1st United- Marlene Pohl to renew at 1st united for 9 months.

 

  1. Misc. Tree cutting and trimming was reviewed by Marlene Pohl. Marlene Pohl

 

 

 

 

 

  1. CORRESPONDENCE

A letter was received from Don Jorgenson demanding the Township maintain 177th Street which is a private road. No action was taken.

 

 

Motion to adjourn by Nancy Johnson, seconded by Jeff LaCanne,  motion carried.
