Wells Township Board February 4, 2013 Minutes

On Monday, February 4, 2013, the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Board members present: Don Langer, Marlene Pohl, Nancy Johnson, Jeff LaCanne and James Zahn Deputy Clerk

Also present were Larry Churchill, Anna Cook and Donald Cook

Chairman Don Langer opened the meeting at 7:0 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the January 7, 2013 meeting were read by James Zahn. Donald Langer moved to accept the minutes, seconded by Nancy Johnson. Motion carried

Treasurer’s report was given by Marlene Pohl.

Current checking account balance $117,302.69

County Settlement check received totaled $3,111.65 and is broken down as follows: Property tax $1,847.94, DNR PLT tax $18.14, Fish and Wild Life $460.55, Green Acres $73.47 and Gravel tax $711.55

Larry Churchill of the Roberds Lake Trail Service District questioned the assessment for road repair. A discussion followed on what was considered repair and what was considered maintenance.  Mr. Churchill requested that the Board review the service district contract and provide the members with a written definition of maintenance and bid information on seal coating by the April board meeting. The board agreed.

Donald Langer and Marlene Pohl sent assessment letters on January 17, 2013 to residents of Roberds Lake Trail and Wells Lake Way and Court. 13 have paid.

Annette Peters from the Auditor’s office called to advise that the Automark and election supplies are ready to be picked up this week.

Met-Con has been out sanding Township roads all last week and this weekend. Also bladed and sanded the roads as of 12:30 A. M. Monday Feb 4, 2013.

Called Pat Brown of Warsaw township and the will do the sanding of Canby Ave. hill off of State Highway 60.

Stop sign and street sign were taken down by a Semi on Roberds Lake Blvd. and 195th street. The County has put up a temporary sign.

Check sign at 172nd street and Roberds Lake Blvd and see if Roberds Lake Court sign is up.

Jim Zahn has shown interest in trying out the Wells Town Clerk Position and has been appointed Deputy Clerk. The Board is reviewing the trial and will make a decision in the near future.

This is the last year of payments from the Kelly Lake Trail blacktop assessments.

Absentee voting will be from Feb. 8, 2013 to March 11, 2013 at 15687 Dover Trail, Marlene Pohl’s home.

The Roberds Lake Sewer Subordinate Service District has asked permission to use the Town Hall for monthly meetings. Donald Langer moved to give the Service District permission to use the Town Hall for monthly meetings, Seconded by Nancy Johnson. The motion carried.

All bills were approved and paid.
