On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. the appointed Clerk Marlene Pohl opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

All Board Members were present. They are Nancy Johnson, Jeff LaCanne, Rich Cap and Marlene Pohl.

Donald Langer was appointed Moderator.

Clerk Marlene Pohl read last year’s Minutes – 2013 with no additions or corrections. Kenneth Brazil moved to accept the minutes – seconded by Dan LaCanne.

Cindy Langer moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report as read. Motion seconded by Brenda Pittman.

Rural Fire Association consists of 3½ Townships: Cannon City, Walcott, Wells and ½ of Warsaw Township. Payment to the Faribault Fire Dept. for the years of June 2014 and June 2015 is $84,313.00.

Dale Kuchinka bid to cut roadsides is the same as last year — $31.00 per mile, both sides for approximately 34 miles of roads.

Met-Con bid same – Blade $85.00/hr.; Plow Truck $75.00/hr. Fuel surcharge above $3.40 gal.

Donald Jorgenson vs. Rice County and Wells Township is Thursday, March 20, 2014. Court Hearing – Case Cancelled.

Annual Rice County Township Officers Meeting is at St. Patrick’s Hall, Shieldsville, MN on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Shieldsville Township takes over maintenance of Baseline Road – Garfield Ave., for a 2-year period from April 1, 2014 to April 1, 2016.

Wells Township Assessment Day is Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the Wells Town Hall.

The Rice County Fair Board sent a letter stating they were goin to build a new Open Class Building. Old Building 38’ x 100’; New Building 40’ x 120’ Legacy Act.

State Fund      $  50,000.00
Rice County    $  50,000.00
Raffle              $    7,000.00

Expected Exterior Cost $120,000.00, 2 Restrooms in bldg.

Fund for New Restrooms $4,500.00. Would like donations. Wells Township $100.00

Wells Township received a check from Highway Users Tax for $22,599.63. District One Hospital if purchased by Allina, the 8 Townships and 3 cities no longer have to pay the yearly charges. Wells Township’s last payment was $21,674.48. If sold the District would be dissolved by the State Legislature. No further payment would be made.

The Township will do Dust Coating again in 2014.

Levi will be the same as last year.

Brenda Pittman moved to cut down Umbrella Tree – Seconded by Cindy Langer. Board to decide.

Colin Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting. Second by Dan LaCanne. Meeting adjourned at 2:10 p.m.
