Wells Township Board March 5, 2013 Minutes
On Monday, March 5, 2013, the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.
Board members present: Don Langer, Marlene Pohl, Nancy Johnson, Jeff LaCanne and James Zahn Deputy Clerk
Also present were Lee Theiss, Kevin Teich, Collen Johnson and John Purdie
Chairman Don Langer opened the meeting at 7:03 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the February 4, 2013 meeting were read by James Zahn. Don Langer moved to accept the minutes, seconded by Nancy Langer . Motion carried
Treasurer’s report was given by Marlene Pohl.
Current checking account balance $125,061.23
Snow Removal expense $20,000
Motion to approve Nancy Johnson second Don Langer
Lee Thiess- Motokazie plans to use 160th Street as access to park. The plan is to vacate the road and turn back to the property owner.
Motion to start abandonment proceedings on 160th Street West made by Jeff LaCanne seconded by Nancy Johnson.
Discussion was held on the park fund required by the County on development of a subdivision. A decision was made to further investigate getting the money back for use in the Township.
Short Course on Assessment for Supervisor’s is in June. Only one certified supervisor is required for the assessment meeting. Assessment Day is April 12, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. After review all three supervisors are currently certified.
Short course for clerks, treasurers and supervisors is at Mankato March 20th.
Annual meeting and elections are Tuesday March 12, 2013. Meeting is at 1:00P.M.
Polls open from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Election for Supervisor- Don Langer(incumbent) vs Rich Cap
Election for Treasurer- Marlene Pohl unopposed
Election Judges are Cris Bauer, Jim Zahn, Lisa LaCanne, Ken Brazil and Nancy Johnson.
Rice County Township officers annual meeting is April 4, 2013 at the American Legion Club 7:30 P.M.
Minnesota Association of Township dues $918.80
Rice County Association of Townships dues $100.00

Truth in taxation charge from county is a major increase this year

District One Hospital Annual meeting was attended by Marlene Pohl and Don Langer. They lost $2,000,000 in 2012 and are working on elimination of Johnston Hall.
All bills were approved and paid.
