WELLS TOWNSHIP

November 3, 2014

Wells Town Hall

 

 

On Monday November 3, 2014 the Wells Town Board met at the Wells Town Hall.

Board Members present were: Jeff LaCanne, Nancy Johnson, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.

 

Also present were: Lowell Berg, Flavia Berg, Colin Johnson, Sarah Croke, Ron Phillips, Shelby Phillips, Brad Lechtenberg and Jim Savoie.

 

Jeff LaCanne opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.

 

Jeff asked if anyone was recording the meeting and received no response.

 

The October 6, 2014 minutes were read by Jim Zahn. Rich Cap moved to accept the minutes and Nancy Johnson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

 

The Township’s spending was reviewed by Marlene Pohl and the Township has a current balance of $ in the checking account. Nancy Johnson moved to accept the treasurer’s report and Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion. The motion Carried.

 

The Bills for the month were reviewed and approved.

 

Ron Phillips asked if the Board has determined the process they intend to follow when assessing for road improvements. A discussion followed about the boards plan to develop and implement a road policy which would include the process for assessing for road improvement. The plan is to have the Road Policy complete by the March board meeting.

 

It was brought to the Boards attention that the intersection where Dalton meets Chappuis Trail has some pot holes that need filling. The board plans to review the intersection to see what needs to be done.

 

Preparations for the FEMA Meeting on Nov 6, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. at the Town Hall were reviewed. Planning to attend are Jeff LaCanne, Rich Cap, Marlene Pohl and Jim Zahn.

 

The County assessment for the sewer stub hook up was reviewed and Nancy Johnson moved that the Township approve and pay the assessment. Jeff LaCanne seconded the motion and the motion carried.

 

The General Election on November 4 was reviewed and everything is in place for the election.

 

The Township received a letter from Rice County Abstract and Title questioning if French Lake Trail is a Township road. Jeff LaCanne signed an affidavit stating French Lake Trail is a township road.

 

Rice County requested we put up a road sign for Farwell Path. After a discussion Jim Zahn was directed to order a sign.

The Board of Adjustment Meeting on Nov. 6 at 7:00 P.M. was discussed. Janelle O’Leary is requesting a 16 ft. variance from the 30 ft. bluff setback for a garage addition. It was decided that Nancy Johnson would represent the township to support this request at the meeting.

The Planning Commission meeting on Nov. 6 following Board of Adjustment meeting was also discussed. Roy Winjum is requesting approval of final development plan and preliminary plat. A discussion about the turn around on the road was discussed and Colin Johnson assured the Board that Township requirements would be met.

Jeff LaCanne moved to adjourn the meeting. Nancy Johnson seconded the motion and it carried.
